Children and Family Services, formerly District Five Family Ministries, provides support services for families in crisis and those who need help meeting their basic needs. By collaborating with area churches and community partners, the program is able to offer a food pantry, emergency utility assistance, financial education, and much more.
The Children & Family Services programs at MTCC provide in-depth case management and interventions to support families who are working to end the cycle of poverty. According to data from the State of Social Safety Nets 2018, services such as the Children and Family Services/D5FM reduce the poverty gap by 45% even if the family does not completely emerge from poverty. Also within that same data, 36% among those living below the poverty index are able to escape extreme poverty if they receive safety net benefits such as those offered by the Children and Family Services/D5FM Program at Middle Tyger Community Center.
